  This session will introduce what the strategy of empathetic interviewing is, the purpose it serves, how to conduct an empathetic interview, as well as provide an example. Reflection questions will then be provided to stimulate discussion regarding previous experiences with interviewing and how this strategy is different or similar as well as how participants can incorporate empathetic interviewing as a strategy within their toolbox.

Podcasts offer a unique experience to provide valuable, in-depth information to your audience. Moving beyond traditional virtual learning formats, or even social media or blog posts, a podcast’s format allows you to cultivate a deeper relationship with your audience and grow your reach to new listeners at the same time.   Each month, the Utah Multi-Tiered System of Support (UMTSS) team highlights resources focused on the UMTSS critical components, delivered as the MTSS Monthly Minute. This consists of a one-page infographic and a short paragraph discussing and providing multiple resources for LEAs on the month’s topic. All MTSS Monthly Minutes are designed to be turnkey, making them easy for LEAs and teachers to understand and implement.
   
• Session 4: Universal Design for Learning: Checkpoint Strategy Cards

  The Universal Design for Learning Framework Strategy Cards (UDL Strategy Cards) are interactive infographics that describe the what, why, and how of the UDL checkpoints. They provide a concise description of why the checkpoint is important, strategies and examples for how to implement each checkpoint, as well as UDL alignment to the MS Professional Growth System. Teachers and administrators can use the UDL Strategy Cards to formulate feedback and generate clear, specific, and actionable steps to improve practice when engaged in the observation and feedback cycles of the Mississippi Professional Growth System. They can also be used by Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) for use in pre-service programs to demonstrate the concepts of and ways to implement Universal Design for Learning.
   
• Session 5: Ohio’s P20 Collaborative: Dynamic Growth in Literacy Instruction

  In 2019, the Ohio Deans Compact launched a P20 Literacy Collaborative to promote the use of evidence-based literacy instruction in order to improve literacy outcomes for all children. In addition to awarding improving literacy partnership grants to 13 IHEs, four Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) were awarded modest grants to support IHE-district teams participating in LETRS professional learning. Discover how this optimistic start-up has blossomed into a statewide collaborative network that includes 23 IHEs and over 200 P12 educators, administrators, and IHE faculty, as well as supporting the development of an emerging video series that will allow for instant access to high quality content!

  FAMILIES TO THE MAX (F2MAX) is Pennsylvania’s Statewide Family Network. F2MAX fosters collaboration between families and professionals in creating and providing information, training, and support to families of children with disabilities across the state. F2MAX supports the work of Pennsylvania’s SPDG, Middle School Success: Path to Graduation (P2G). The overarching goal of P2G is to decrease dropout rates for students with disabilities, specifically students identified with emotional behavioral disorders.
