Unified Champion Schools

Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools is a strategy to promote social inclusion, providing students, educators and families with the tools, skills and dispositions to create schools of acceptance and positive school climate. Evidence and evaluation shows that SOUCS  is a contributing factor to student success, and positive academic and social emotional outcomes. This session will explore how the impact can extend to family wellbeing.

At our February SPDG Directors' Webinar we got a behind the scenes look at the South Dakota SPDG.  We started with the South Dakota Evaluators who shared their widely lauded evaluation plan and how they have integrated family engagement into that plan.
 

Brandi Gerry, the SD Project Director, shared:

•     Their project infographic and how it has helped her collaborate with others at the State level.

•     Implementation lessons learned.

•     Resources and strategies that have worked.

•     What she would recommend not doing.

Directors' Webinar: April 2022

  • Representatives from Minnesota’s Comprehensive System of Personnel Development Team surveyed 500+ individuals about factors affecting recruitment and retention of professionals working with children with disabilities in early childhood education.
  • They will share results of the 400+ person survey and focus groups and discuss implications for other states.
