Purpose

The purpose of the Wyoming SPDG is to reform the personnel development system to increase alignment among state initiatives and increase 1) the number of teachers on emergency certification who become full certified, 2) the number of person-centered IEPs that address students with disabilities' employability skills needs, and 3) the capacity of LEA leaders and educators to develop systems and use strategies that build trust and engagement with families. The project is designed to support three State strategic plan goals and family engagement and the quality of IEPs.

Method

The project will be managed by five Wyoming Department of Education staff, including a Project Supervisor, full-time project coordinator, and three goal area leads. To promote consistency and sustainability, year 1 will focus on the development and refinement of standardized, yet adaptable, training and coaching programs. For delivery of professional development, the project will leverage the University of Wyoming's ECHO Program, statewide training through the new Wyoming PD Portal, online modules, and embedded coaching. It will be evaluated by Data-Driven Enterprise, a highly  experienced external evaluator.
