Purpose
OK SPDG IV project proposes a three-pronged plan of improving capacity at the state-agency, improving Local Educational Agency (LEA) capacity to efficiently deliver services via multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), and improving quality and retention of early career special educators as a means to improve student outcomes. State-level alignment of services and direct professional development (PD) and coaching supports will lead to improved knowledge and skills of LEA personnel to effectively respond to student needs. Additionally, increased support for early career special educators will improve quality, self-efficacy, and job satisfaction leading to retention and an improved workforce.
Method
The project will be collaboratively designed and executed by OK SPDG IV personnel and partners from other offices within the Oklahoma State Department of Education, Part C provider (SoonerStart), Local Educational Agencies (LEA), Institution of Higher Education (IHE) partner, and the Oklahoma Parents Center (PTI partner). The OK SPDG IV Project Director will manage the grant’s activities, budget, and partner relationships. The Project Director and External Evaluator will work collaboratively to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources to evaluate program impacts. Data sources will include fidelity, student outcomes, teacher knowledge and skill, and PD attendance data.
