Debrajean Scheibel is Maine’s State Personnel Development Grant Coordinator and education consultant for the Maine Department of Education. Debrajean is a former Special Education Administrator, a secondary special education and regular education teacher. In 2008 she co-founded Essential Learning for Designing Educational Bridges, EL-DEB, INC. a nonprofit organization designed to provide quality professional development to schools, businesses and agencies working with individuals with disabilities. Her career in education began 33 years ago and continues to be centered on meeting the learning needs of all children.
Jennifer Gonzales is the Positive Behavior Support Coordinator of the AR State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG). As a Positive Behavior Support Coordinator, Mrs. Gonzales oversees the primary goals of the SPDG’s state-wide positive behavior support program with a primary focus on multi-tiered Response-to-Intervention (RtI) systems and data-based problem-solving methods. Mrs. Gonzales has also had the opportunity to help facilitate and manage state-level committees that have created Common Core literacy and math intervention tools for educators.

The Common Core State Standards Implementation PLC will kick-off on September 20, and will feature two SPDG directors who will each present for 15-20 minutes each on their states’ implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). DebraJean Scheibel, Maine SPDG Coordinator, and Jennifer Gonzales, Arkansas SPDG PBS Coordinator, will each present an overview of their states’ implementation processes key initiatives designed to ensure that Students with Disabilities and their teachers are included purposefully and strategically in the CCSS implementation.
