Commercial meeting audience response tools

We’ve discussed using Twitter to capture audience response; for many of us, trying to keep up with tweets and also stay on topic sounds pretty intimidating. Fortunately, some techie types have found ways to make response surveying during meetings a lot simpler. Costs and functionality of these tools vary.

The cost of audience response technology can range from what educators would consider the stratosphere ($15,000 for equipment and software for a meeting) to plans that cost between $15 and $375 a month depending on the number of potential responses. One website, Audience Response dot biz network, promises to provide readers with “a broad range of information on audience response technology, audience response devices, audience response software, the types of systems that are currently available, and the many audience response companies that service the industry.” Turning Technologies provides try-out downloads of polling software (limited to 5 responses without a sales code); I was not able to get costing information on these products without contacting the sales department . . . maybe later on that!

I hope that a reader with some realtime experience using one of these or another audience polling technology will pick up the ball now – I have more than exhausted my knowledge on this subject!
